Q: Why did you decide to have Earthfest on your farm?
With Earthfest presents an opportunity to share the Biodynamic experience with as many people as are willing to take part and put a little of themselves into this Earth Day blessing. Often this is done just by the farmer and some helpers but we can open it up to be more inclusive and i feel certain it will be a unique and rewarding experience for all, a chance to directly gift elemental nature. This is a first so it will be co creative and a shared experience. Secondly we are such a great team with a willingness to take chances in order to create something special and meaningful.
Q: How did you get into organic / biodynamic side of things?
I started here at Shalvanstown in the early 90’s with my grandfather and it was time for a new direction to plan for the future. Either go more intensive and borrow a lot of money or avail of the environmental programs just emerged and go organic. I went to meetings with the different organic groups but it was the Biodynamic which left the most lasting impression. I became organic and only later in 2000 joined the Bd association.
Q: Do you have/ what is your vision in how the relationship between land & humans (&cosmos/animals/beings) can potentially change our society & health of planet earth?
What vision I have has mostly been developed through my experience of Bio Dynamic activities and how it facilitates a relationship with the land on a very intimate and personal level. It is practical and magical at the same time. You must put in the effort individually or collectively without seeking reward ony just to be there and present. This brings together a special kind of people and creates a special relationship to our food and the nature that surrounds us.
Q:If there was one message you wanted every person visiting your organic farm to know/hear, what would that be?
Special message? Come fresh and with some anticipation, excitement and a willingness to step into spirit over matter.
